After a quick breakfast at the hotel, we drove 59 miles to Fallingwater, arriving almost an hour before our 11:00 tour time. It was drizzling on our drive to the home, but didn’t rain during the tour. We bought our first souvenirs of the trip--t-shirts and a bookmark. The house is amazing. The Kaufmann family thought the house would have views of the creek and waterfall, but Wright built the house over it. It was built during the depression at a cost of about $155,000. No indoor photography is allowed. The house has 8 bathrooms but only 3 or 4 bedrooms. Each room has its own terrace with views of the beautiful woods. We left Fallingwater and drove 170 miles to Summersville WV, stopping for lunch at Ruby Tuesdays in Morgantown. We tried the crab cake burger and liked it a lot. It’s cooler today, only about 70 for a high. It rained off and on for the 4 1/4 hour trip to the Hampton Inn where we’re staying. Ours is the only car in the parking lot!
