Today was much more relaxing than the last few days as we didn’t go on a shore excursion. We did a shore excursion (toured the ruins of Ephesus and the House of the Virgin Mary) when we were in this port in 2006. We had breakfast in the dining room this morning, then left the ship and explored Kusadasi for about an hour and a half. The Turks that have leather and jewelry shops near the harbor are very aggressive in trying to get you to buy, but we thought they were friendlier than on our last visit. We saw several mosques, lots of shops and restaurants, and even a sex shop right off a main street (no, we didn’t go in). There were several stores that had mattresses for sale right on the sidewalk. It appears you can get most anything in this pretty city. We returned to the ship and put our swim suits on and went up the the pool--we were about the only ones there. After a good lunch in the dining room we went to our cabin for some down time. We had a team of five from Grant Park for trivia tonight and did well, but still no win. After dinner we went to the casino for awhile, but didn’t win there either. We skipped the show tonight and read for a bit before bed. Barbara brought about five books on her new Kindle but we’ve hardly had time to read.
